First Pediatric dentist Visit in Antioch CA
When Should My Child Have Their First Dental Visit?
Benefits of Early Dental Visits
-
Prevent cavities through early education and guidance.
-
Monitor oral development and identify any issues early.
-
Establish a dental home, meaning a trusted dental office for ongoing care.
Regular check-ups are recommended every 6 months after that first visit or possibly sooner based on risk factors.
Do’s and Don’ts for Parents
Please frame going to the dentist in a positive manner as we want to make this an enjoyable place. Please do not share with your child any anxiety or negative experiences you may have had about dentists.
Try to avoid using words that may cause unnecessary fear such as “hurt”, “pain”, “shot”, “needle”, “drill” or “pull”; we prefer to use age-appropriate and non-threatening words to explain our equipment and procedures.
Reassure your child that the friendly doctor and staff will explain everything to him or her and answer all questions. If you have concerns regarding the details of a procedure, we recommend having a private conversation with the doctor, in a setting that is appropriate for adult discussion.
